Month long road trip in western USA
I've been planning a month long road trip to the US with my friends on October 2020. The trip will have 5 people, 4 of them can drive. We thought about doing the coast-to-coast drive, but since we mostly want to see nature & national parks, we've started leaning towards west US for this trip.
Our plan is to fly to Salt Lake City from Helsinki, rent a camper van (staying in motels though), drive to Yellowstone, stay there for a few days, and then drive back to Salt Lake. From there we'd go towards Monument Valley and Grand Canyon, seeing the sights along the way. After that we'd be off towards Yosemite, through Las Vegas. We'd end the trip in San Francisco and fly back home from there.
Basically we'd want to see Yellowstone, Grand Canyon and Yosemite in the same trip. I'll link a rough map of our route in the bottom.
Since I don't really have experience planning a trip this size, and the scale of USA is hard to imagine, I'd like to know if this makes any sense.
Is a month enough time for this trip? What's the chance that the parks will be closed in October? Are the driving times in Google Maps/roadtrippers.com even close to accurate? Anything else we should think about?
